Looking for a good CD-recovery program

I have a family friend that has several CD-R's that have began to degrade, a few will still read but several wont. I'm looking for a good program that could possibly do a bit-by-bit scan of the cd, skip/log the errors and recover what can be recovered.

I've tried setting him up with isobuster and cdroller, neither which worked well. isobuster didn't want to copy the files and cdroller would halt on errors when doing a scan.

any ideas?
