quick question for those powering pelts with dedicated meanwells.

how are you switching the psu? relay? power switch?

I'm trying to find a switch that will be able to handle the load of a tec but afterlooking at some higher end industrial grade switches seems even the current stock of marketed switches can only do 15-30 amps at 125 volts ac.

(or 25amps at 12volts dc at best.)

the manual for an rD30 suggests to use a switch after the psu (between the pump) in order to switch. This will be easy since your average toggle can handle even the measly 6amps the meanwell will be putting out but for TECs?

Anybody?

Edit: Sorry if the title confuses anybody.

a relay for the meanwell is the best for normal usage, for benching usage just pull the plug on the meanwell.

When I was using a TEC, I had the Meanwell wired to a plug that was in the same UPS as the pump. That way, if the TEC was on, the pump was on as well. I did this after power outage resulted in the TEC coming on without the pump on. Turned the water in my waterblock to steam and deformed the top of the waterblock (acrylic) to where it was unusable, and fried the XP chip it was on.

You probably want to build a relay or buy one. Basically what it should do is when it has 12v dc put to it it will trip and flip a switch to allow juice to the meanwell.
