Hey guys...quick question?
My hard-drive was fried earlier and you guys told me that I might be able to swap out the circuitry and keep the info on the Hard-Drive as long as the disks are still good?

I took all the screws off of the Hard-Drive and I got down to those shiny disks inside and everything looks fine in there to me? (Hopefully I didn't screw myself by looking in there...I didn't touch anything, just looked at it really quick and re-sealed it.) On the back of the Hard-Drive is that green circuit board that comes off easily with just 4 screws...

My question is: Do I simply just have to remove and replace that green circuit board? It can't be that easy can it?

If you can find a good PCB (greenboard) for that drive, it could be that simple.

you should not of opened the casing to see the platters, the smallest amount of dust in their and you could kiss your data goodbye.

yikes! I didn't know?? I kinda figured something like that though so I closed it immediately. I started taking the Hard-Drive apart and was like...um this is too easy...there has got to be some tricky part to this otherwise everybody would be doing it?

Who am I kidding, I filled it with Jelly Beans just to see how many it could hold. (not really, LOL.)

Well yea, telling him now might keep him from doing it again later
