Hey guys i just bought GTA San Andreas. This is what i did. First i made an image from the DVD so its a little bit faster and it doesnt lag much. what i noticed is when it rained, the other sound was disabled or it was trying to catch up. Is the ISO problem or is it my sound card? sorry if i went agianst the forums im not sure about this problem.

Any ideas for a reall good sound card that cheap but very good quality for games. Im hoping to only spend 60 bucks max. cheaper is best. thanks for you help guys.

If you do a search or just scroll down, you'll see a lot of topics on this. The two popular ones seem to be x-fi and audigys. Both by creative. From what I gathered X-fi=gaming and audigy=music. I went for the X-fi and couldnt be happier. And if you get the x-fi, just get the extrememusic. It seems like the extra features on the higher models are useless.

id say go to the egg and get the audigy 2zs its extremely cheap now. its a sweet sound card i love it, only problem is it has no optical or coax but thats no biggies analog is still damn good. theres big discount prices on alot of creatives sound cards on the egg you should check it out http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/Special.asp?RebateType=0&ExpiredRebate=1&Subcategory=57&Brand=1137&saveCompare=0&SaveAmount=&item=&listType=rebate&action=search

I would get the X-Fi Xtreme Music, a lil out of your budget @ ~$90 but i think one on the egg has a $20 rebate, plus christmas sales and whatnot coming up. Hope your happy with whatever you get. :D

one juggalo to another... steer away from audigy 2. i have nothing but problems w/ mine on xp. it makes loud screetches and crackles when sound effects come to play. music is fine for the most part, video games is like scratching on a chalk board. i heard on windows 2000 it works great. IMO creative cant make drivers. but hey if you can find a good one i bet it would sound cool.

i have a PCI Sound card Creative sound blaster live the model number is ct4780. Which iu looked and it was a $15 dollar card. this isnt a good card for GTA SA. Im getting a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 ultra D socket 939 motherboard in 4 days and it had on board sound. Is the onboard sound better than the creative sound card i have now?

I think the Creative Sound card would still be better, as it is off board and the processing isnt done by your CPU

I have the X-Fi and couldnt be happier

I do wish Creative would make their drivers Open Source so we can get some REAL people to make REAL drivers, because for a fact, Creative's drivers are just plain crap

You should always disable anything your not goign to use, whether it be firewire, extra SATA ports, onboard audio, fdd, etc... If your not using it, disable it in the bios. Its a surefire way to get a little bit of extra performance and prevent potential conflicts.

go with m-audio, they destroy the soundblaster garbage.

Most people use these with recording they have better a/d conveters, check a music gear site.

But they are junk if your a gamer. IMO, the only real choice for a gamer would be a creative card. I'd recommend splurging for an X-Fi.

junk for a gamer? for games you can get by with onboard, there is nothing hardware intensive for playing a sound.
If something is superior for recording it will be superior for playback.
The only advantage creative has is its cheap if your going to spend more then 80 bucks you might as well go with something that is used in studios..

Its almost the same as pc speakers they work for gaming but are useless for recording. I have a pair of mackies I use for gaming I better sell them for some creative. Ill have money left over for a whole new computer...

anyways amazon has a 50 mir on the xifi, xtreme music 20 mir ,

does ANYONE read what he wrote?
To me it doesnt sound like a soundcard issue if it just isnt playing it

Its playing the gmae but when its rains, theres no sound. when it stops raining, the sound gets back. Can this be a lag in the CPU. I used to run a 1 GHZ processor. Could that be the issue instead of the sound?
