Slot A 800 Overclocking/unlocking

I have a slot A ATHLON 800 with a qdi kinetiz m/b.
What can I do to overclock it? what changes need to made on the proccesor so I can overclock it? Can I overclock it with this m/b? So far the max i've reached is 880 :confused: .
I know that I'm asking for alot... but please someone help me!!! :D

check out tomshardware.com search for athlon overclocking. you can either modify the pcb like i've done with i sodering iron like i did or make an overclocking card like a gfd. you can also buy a gfd but they're getting hard to find. tomshardware has all the correct placement for the resistors. i've gotten my 750 running at 977 with a decent heatsing dual fan and a lot of system fans....

I saw the review at tomshardware but i'm not shure what changes to make!!! I don't want to fry my AMD. Does anyone know up to what speed I can take my 800 cpu?

u hafta break off the case with a screw driver..
and I suggest u get a GFD, look on ebay, u can get them pretty cheap...

what is your core code?

and cache and speed?

I've got my 750 in the GHZ now...

once you pop the cover off and get the retention springs (very carfully) off the posts you can pull the backplate off and see the core. the core code will be stamped right on top. alot of slot a processors have 900 megahertz cores! if this is the case you can feel pretty comfortable about overclocking to 950, or 1000 if your lucky. ditto on the gfd if you arent comfortable soldering around on the pcb, the resistors you have to move are about the size of the head on a little push pin so that can be pretty nerve wracking. i'm currently running my 750 @ 115x8.5 (977) and i'm working on building up the nerve to up the multiplier up to 9 or 9.5 and go for the gig!!!

well there's 4 pins u gotta crack...

insert a flat head screw driver btwn plastic and the cold plate..
leverage it, and then twist... there's 4 pins holding it in..

do a search on "cracking athlon" or something like that on google.. they have step by steps with pictures..

just make sure u don't stick the screw driver too deep, or u'll take a chunk off your PCB, just look down through the slot

I've done it twice.. both succesful it's not hard... but the case is..
it's scary cuz u think the whole thing is gonna explode in your hands... all u have to do is pry carefully....
