Currently, I am running the following, which I bought on Black friday for $284.00 ish

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit System Memory
Model #: BL2KIT12864AA1005

Originally I was running this for $239.00:

Crucial 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TY2KIT12864AA663 - Retail
Item #: N82E16820148017

But one of the Anniversary sticks (the latter) were bad. So I need to either return them for a refund or send them to Crucial to replace them after I have had them for 30 days.

What do you guys think about my little dillemma? Should I go ahead and keep the faster Ballistix and return the Anniversary?

Or keep the Anniversary and send back the Ballistix? Or...Keep both?! I really shouldn't keep both though. I need to get another video card to match for SLI capability with my GeForce 7950 GT KO.

If it was me, and the $50 price difference was ok to spend, I'd keep the Ballistix and RMA the Anniv. sticks. Then Sell them and buy most of that 7950GT

very tough choice.
honestly id rma the annis sell them for a small profit(to cover shipping)and keep the 8000s.its a win win really.that way hopefully a ocer gets them and puts them to good use and they dont just end up in crucials closet.the annis are real hot right now being that theyre handpicked.so getting rid of them will be really easy.

That sounds like a pretty good idea. I think I will do just that. Unfortunately, I must wait a while to get my RMA from Crucial, then actually send it and get it back. Worst case scenario, I end up keeping it. Which isn't a terrible thing.

We'll see how it works out. Thanks for the advice

well it turns out that a member of another forum has a dead stick of the annis and called crucial to rma the set.he was told that they dont have anymore of the 10th anniversary and they would have to be replaced with the regular 5300s.seems crucial didnt keep any in stock for rmas so there goes that idea. :(

Well that really stinks....I guess as long as the set they use to replace them are of equal value then it's alright.

Thought the anniversaries were 6400 not 5300(maybe you hit the numbers off 1?)?

Also does anyone know how long it takes for crucial to RMA? I actually have a bad stick and in two weeks I'm going on vacation for a while.

.

No. They are 5300. I double-checked. You made me go back to my order to make sure :)

I wonder if I could get with the guy who had the other dead piece of Anniversary and one of us could end up with two good sticks and just send the other two in to get replaced! LOL. I doubt it though.

So I was getting my RMA from Newegg. They are taking off 15% for a restocking fee on the memory that is defective? :bang head

Are they serious? It is going to cost ME around $35.00 for a problem with THEIR merchandise?!

Tell me I read that wrong, or I am mistaken in some way!

If that is the case, I will just keep it and return it to Crucial for replacement and then sell those sticks to someone else. Bastardos!

if your exchanging them for another set it wont cost you anything.they even cover shipping both ways.if your returning them then they may try to charge a restocking fee.
