I'm having a problem with Microsoft Outlook. Whenever I send an attachment with an e-mail to someone who does NOT have Microsoft Outlook on their computer for e-mail, the attachment arrives as a ".dat" file (instead of a .doc, .ppt or even .pdf file).

Does anyone know have any idea why this happens or how to fix it? I've been through all the option screens, and there I can't find anything about setting a preference for how files are attached or sent.

Thanks...

Send as plain text instead of HTML (Tools -> Options -> Mail Format tab). Otherwise, the recipient(s) can download WMDecode and extract the data within the .dat file.
