I own the AW8, just the plain jain version of Abit's 955x board..

I have a P4D 930 chip which I can't seem to push past the 3.6ghz mark.. I've got 3gb of RAM in dual-channel, all are PC6400 w/ 4-4-4-12 timings.

Even if I use the highest RAM divider (so that RAM is not a bottleneck), I can't get it stable at 240fsb or past. The highest stable overclock is somewhere around 236fsb. I've tried changing CPU vcore a tad higher to 1.3125, possibly the next highest (can't remember) to no avail.

Where do you think my problem lies? Could it be the motherboard not wanting to go higher, or possibly Vcore? I'm apprehensive to turn the vcore up higher than it is as I'm only using the stock Intel HSF. What is a safe voltage to run these CPU's at?

What suggestions are there for getting a higher overclock? Any idea what is keeping me at ~3.6ghz? Any ideas would be appreciated!

I have only just stoped running my AW8 Max with a 920 in it, and I found it to be a great OC'er, but it does seem to come down to what ram you are using.
This board will go (and I have done it) all the way up to 340fsb but no higher as the BIOS chip is only 512KB so there no room to expand the tables.

By the way have you changed the N/B Strap CPU to PSB1066 so it dumbs your ram down and are you running it at 1:1 ?

As you'll see in this post http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=4645105&postcount=9 it took me 1.375 volts to be stable at 300fsb
but that was with an XP120 and a 120X38 fan moving more than 110cfm as well as sitting outside on a cold night (coldnight = -5)

Well, I ran my AW8 at 400fsb with a P950, and had no problems... Make sure you add a bit of MCH (Northbridge voltage)... I think I had mine maxed out (was using a Swiftech Northbrige cooler with a fan)...

Put the beer down and move away from the keyboard

AW8 / AW8 Max have a max fsb of 339.1
Only with a bois update could the AW8D go over 340 but no bois update can help its little brother as it the chip it self thats holding it back.
