So pre-N or draft-N routers are out, been out for a while. I think I read somewhere that 802.11N would be complete in Q1 2007, so where does that leave the pre-N routers? Will they get a firmware update to the final N standard, or will it be a bit limited in its interaction with final n standard hardware?
I think my router is dying, and I am not sure if I should just get another G router, or get a N, but if N will change in the few months, what would the point be?

I've read even longer on the 802.11n final approval (3Q 2007). There has also not been a confirmation that the draft-n products can be upgraded with a firmware update or what-not since the final 802.11n standard isn't available to the manufacturers yet.

I have heard that a "Pre-N" AP will make a near-by "G" AP system practically unuseable (steps all over G's Frequency Bandwidth IIRC) . If this is the case - then Pre-N might have a LONG way to go before anything is finalized IMO...
Reminds me of the Adjacent Channel OTA HDTV Broadcasting issues that are cropping up...
I'd wait - or run a Gigabit wLAN
