Hi,
Just wondering what the simplest way of getting wireless connection between my desktop and laptop. I dont have a wireless etherent card in my desktop do i need one? .
I have also seen on the market these wireless USB pens which so say pick the connection up. Any help would be grateful
thks
If you want a wireless connection, you're going to need some type of wireless adapter in the desktop. USB or PCI doesn't matter.
If you just want to be able to transfer files from the laptop to the desktop wirelessly you could just get a wireless router and connect the desktop with a cable.

Exactly! Thats what I do. I bought a 20 dollar wireless router from the forums a few months ago and I use it for that, and sharing internet between laptop and desktop.

Yes I dont mind keeping the desktop cabled just want the laptop wireless for downstairs/sofa usage! So a wireless router and a wireless network card for the lappy and i`m away then?
Pretty much. Just setup the router next to the computer (guessing that is where your modem is currently) and swap the CAT 5 from the modem to the WAN on the router. Then add a CAT 5 from the router to PC. Setup wireless on the WEB GUI and you are good to go.
File/Print sharing setup is optional.
