I've had this pump for a number of months with no issues, but I've just changed the layout of my setup and gone to silicone tubing and now air is getting into my system somehow....

Here is part of my last post from the "Problems with watercooling setup" thread I had going:

"...I tried running the pump in a bucket of water, but because I had to move the pump and therefore the hoses as well, I could not tell for sure if air was getting in or not, though it did appear to be.

With the pump out of the bucket, air is definitly still getting in... I checked the pump for cracks but can't see any. There is the part at the front of the pump that you can remove to replace the impeller that I haven't checked, so I'll do that tonight..

One thing I noticed, but am not too sure about is that I can hear a "gurgling" sound coming from my pump, basically all the time. It's the same sound as when air bubbles get sucked into the pump, but I can't see air bubbles going in through the tubes... Has anyone with an Eheim 1048 pump had this kind of problem? "

The only thing I can think of is somehow you've got an interference somewhere in the pump cavity which is trapping air there. I have a 1048 and I've only ever heard the gurgling sound when first priming the system. Do you have a res? Can you figure out how fast air is getting into the system/ water getting out?

Try doing this, put the pump in a bucket with the intake hose off and then plug it with your hand to see it its sucking in air or water thru the pumps seals. That kind of sounds like the problem.
