Im wondering wether its possile to successfuly rehouse a dell pc, the model I will probably be getting is a dell 4300 and I will be running it as a sideline rig for work and web browsing. Is it possible to remove all parts and rehouse them in a standard ATX case, the last time I worked with a dell many of the parts were fitted strangley in the case and the mobo screws had no head, they were flat (possibly just covered).
thnx in advance

If the board follows *ATX standards - then, yes. More than likely it will not. Mounting holes may not align properly, power and reset button typically have a proprietary cable/interface, and the back panel will probably have an oversized plate for the component connections that just won't fit an *ATX case.
Then again, it may fit perfectly.

btw how moddable are dell cases, im talking mounting a couple of 80/120mm fans front and topside even more if possible
Never did any modding to Dell cases, but I wouldn't imagine it to be very difficult. They're almost entirely plastic and pretty roomy on the inside. Cables are neatly arranged, as well.

I once tried to rehouse a Dell rig...the mobo front panel header is not marked at all, and finding a pinout diagram is fairly difficult (at least i was unable to get one). I thought about using a pinout from a board that I already had, but given that the Dell was a client's computer I didn't want to do anything that could result in it dying.

newer dells are standard atx (or matx). I rehoused my brother dim2400 without an issue. the i/o cover was a bit of a pain and i had a hard time finding pinouts for the front connectors.
all motherboard mounting holes lined up. PS was standard atx.
