Just got E6600 cpu with Ultra Illuminus full tower case need some advice on overclock it up to 3.5Ghz if possible. Would you recommend GA-965P-DS3, GA965P-DQ6, ASUS P5W DH, or abit AW9D-MAX? Which PC-6400 manufacture would you recommend? What fan is best for overclock? Thank you for all the help.

:welcome: to the forums!!

do you plan to run sli or just sinlge card system? you game lot or just a little?

Sorry, forgot to mention that I also got the EVGA 7900GS. I don't game that often and not planning on SLI yet. My main concern is speed right now. Thank you for your advice.

well we wont see sli for intel chipsets anytime soon due to nv not wanting to add it in the drivers. the only ones for sli i would recommend atm are the 650/680 mobo's. a plus to these new chipsets mainly the 680 has indepent ocing of ram and cpu. this means you could use cheap ddr2-667 ram and oc your cpu all you want or just oc you ram if you spent big bucks for the ddr2-1066/1200.

as far as ram goes imo its these with d9's
this first one is highly recommend since it does ddr2-1000 for $309

these are ddr2-800

if you need something cheaper i would say these, but are not d9's afik.

i say get 2 gigs now since you want to run sli and game sometimes. with this much ram now that mean when newer games come out later you wont be forced to buy more later. just to run the game smoothly cause its running out of ram to use.

you want sli so you need to look at the 680i as its a better board for a bit more... i would say a evga or similar 680i board will do fine but has lots of tweaking like amd boards.

your sticking with aircooling then i take. you will want to look at something like this

or these that are a tad smaller

well i got my e6600 up to 3.6ghz on my p5wdh. It probably could go more but i just haven't gotten the time yet to push it.

The best air cooler would is the Tuniq 120 but its pretty hard to find and $$$. Some other good choices in no particular order:
Thermalright Ultra-120
Noctua NH-U12
Noctua NH-U9
Thermaltake Big Typhoon
Zalman CNPS9700LED
Scythe Ninja
Scythe Infinity
Thermalright XP-90/C
Thermalright SI-120
Thermalright XP-120
ASUS Silent Square

I have:santa: the Dfi infinity 975x not a fancy board but with the bata bios i got fsb to 445. Wich with a e6600 would be just over 4ghz. I would also recommend the evga 680i boards and there are also some other good boards out there. There is also a dfi board with a ati chip set coming out soon.

Thank you for all the help. Which air cooler to use to push it 4ghz? Is it stable at 4ghz?

Not to be rude or anything but it seem's you are new here, so please take the time out to read some guides on how to properly overclock so you don't ruin your brand new hardware :]. Good luck and happy OCing!
