Okay, I recieved a Maxtor Diamond 10 300 GB in the mail yesterday, and i was curious if reinstalling windows from my old 40 GB 2 MB cache western digital hard drive would show MAJOR performance increases loading wise.. I do doubt it myself that it will be enough to warrent a reinstall but I am just curious if anyone else has done this or something similar to this and seen large loading time decreases.

How old is your previous install?

Don't waste your time then. Just use the manufacturer's software and do a "disk copy" to the new drive and then defrag and you'll be all good.

I don't think you would see that much of a performance increase, I could be wrong though. I mean you wouldn't see the performance increase between the diamond max and a raptor, so unless your worried about the WD dying on you anytime soon I'd say it'd be fine like it is.
