Well i'm a newbie to the intel world.

Currently i'm running into a brick wall on this e6600(specs in sig)

I'm trying to boot at 355 fsb(ddr2 710) (5-5-5-15)
(just got this rig up yesterday so i'm just starting)

350 fsb loads into windows completely stable but i can't even post at the above. Dosn't matter how much voltage i feed it and its not ram (tested ram to 850 havn't tried higher but in this case it dosn't matter)

Now i've been outta this game for quite awhile so i figure it's something i'm doing wrong. .

Idle temps are around 36C and load is unknown.
350 boots at stock voltage and i've tried up to 1.4v at 355 just for testing.

Thanks for any info given

what mch voltage are you using? find out your load temps as well.

More detailed specs on the ram please. :)

ram is nothing speical

OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12

after 9 hours of orthos each 1 core is at 45c other is 43c

mch voltage is on auto

Could you try running memtest on your ram at stock speed and settings?

I don't recall a good setting for mch but I would try to find something to try other then auto. Well that applys to most all of the voltages.

what have you disabled in the bios so far?

also set mch voltage to 1.35

at stock memtest runs fine, but when i change fsb and run it under ddr800 i get errors. what causes this? i didn't think the ram would get errors when its being ran under tested speeds is it something i'm doing?

so at stock cpu fsb with the ram running at ddr2-800 your getting errors? if your running the cpu fsb faster with 800 ram ratio are you adding more volts to the ram when upping the fsb and keeping the 5-5-5-12? might also want to lossen it up a bit to 5-5-5-14/16 timings make sure your not running 1t. also have you manually set the voltage the dimms are getting or is that on auto as well?

no errors at all with them settings
and this is with 1.9vdimm
if i up the fsb to say 300 and ddr2-750(i think thats what it is under 800 either way) with the same settings i get ram errors right away.

no if your running 300mhz with the ddr2-800 ratio your ram is being oced past ddr2-800. the ram is rated to run with 2volts so do this for me and give it a go, set timing to 5-5-5-14 set ram voltage to 2.1v. that would be at your fsb of 300mhz but i expect you to be stable at 333mhz with what i suggested possibly higher, as long as your temps are ok.

oh ya i know its being oced past ddr2-800 like that
but dosn't changing the dram frequency to 300fsb/750mhz dram frequency not overclock the ram? Maybe i'm confused or maybe i just explain myself poorly. Either way i left it at the ddr2-800 option @ 300fsb 900mhz dram frequency and upped the dimm voltage to 2.1 (1.9 is stock which is what i was running) and that does seem stable.

would you be able to explain to me why 300fsb with 750 dram frequency would not be?
