I have just upgraded my abit bf6/500 celeron to a 1.1. I upgraded the bios and all hell broke loose.. I kept on getting a corrupt registry and frequent hangs. I removed my ata 100 card and things got better but I still get hangs and then my bios doesnt recognize the processor. I then reboot holding down the insert key to get the processor recognized again. may run for hours, minutes and then hangs again.. I have monitored temp on the processor (35-37 with orb and 40-43 with stock.) and have run SISOFT Burn-in but that stays up. What else.. removed all memory but the first stick.. Any known compat. issues. Ideas ?

It's possible that your chip has a tulatin core. If so then your chipset is incompatible. In other words you may need a new motherboard. The Asus tusl2-c is a very stable choice and a good overclocker.

First of all the 1.1Gig Celeron is NOT a Tualatin. Did you also buy a new slotket (CPU converter card)?! Cuz your Celeron 500 needed a PPGA socket, and the new (Celeron-II) 1.1Gig needs the FC-PGA socket. Both types of sockets look the same and your new CPU fits in the PPGA socket, but the connections are not the same. I hope this helps you out!
