View Full Version : Core Duo Tempatures

I was wondering if 70'C under load about 60'C idle was a safe temperature for my Core Duo. I have a feeling that it is not being cooled well enough since the temps are so high. I was wondering if it is a safe temperature since I would prefer not to burn up my laptop.

Edit: It is a yonah if that helps.

Thanks,
Brian

is it a conroe or merom? (merom is mobile version)

If it is a conroe, than temps are bound to be high (laptop w/ desktop processor =bad temps), but if it is a merom, i would be careful and look into it further

Edit: do you mean core or core 2? if only core, than disregard my post, because yonah was the only version, and it was meant to be mobile

I edited my first post but it is a regular core duo the yonah. It is the T2300 1.66Ghz dual core.

That is way too high...most people get about 60-ish under load with an overclocked C2D. I would reinstall the heatsink.

Same here..

I was unaware that my idle and load temps were way behond the normal until I downloaded TAT a few days later after building my new system. Idle was ~55-60, load ~70-82.... Reinstalled the heatsink this time double checking if the heatsink is snapped in all the way.. Now I idle at 28-34 and load 42-53

My little Conroe feller is currently idling at 36c ("idle" = Foobar2k and DScaler running, using 100% of one of the cores). Both cores loaded at 100% by TAT hovers around 50c. I'd suggest reseating.

It is a yonah not a conroe and it is in a laptop but I guess the temp should be around the conroe?

I actually had it in there that it was a yonah before you made you post I put in that it was a yonah after the 1st reply and then I made it bold and red after people kept talking about conroes.

Yonah can go MUCH higher. My Core 2 Duo Mobile rig (see sig) runs at 48C idle but loads to 70C. I think the max temp of both Core Due and Core 2 Duo Mobile is like 100C. I plugged up all the vents on my laptop (T2600) one time just to see where it throttled and it was 96C before throttle.
