Is that a molex power adapter?

I thought it was an SLI power connector? I don't really know what they are called. 6 pins.

not molex.

there is a 6 pin power connector on the backside and a SLI bridge connector on the top

I believe it's referred to as a PCI-e power connector (6 pins ::: ).

No hes right. I have this card. It has a 4-pin molex connector check newegg pics. It comes with a 4-pin to 6-pin adapter. Also be forewarned this card is extremely loud.

so what is the difference between the one you got and this one http://www.motherboards.org/imageview.html?i=/images/reviews/hardware/1653_p2_4.jpg
because that one clearly has the 6 pin...

Nevermind. XFX site has confirmed that it indeed has the 4 pin molex. Why is that? Is that something to fear at all?

Well if you remember a while back, cards had 4 pin molex connectors for supplementary power. When the 6800 Ultra came out, it required two molex connectors because one connector wasn't rated for enough current to feed the 6800 Ultra. So the powers that be came up with the 6 pin PCI-E connector to ensure that enough power could be taken from one connector (although it seems like they failed with the 8800GTX).

The 7900GS is a relatively efficient card and doesn't use too much more power than the PCI-E slot can provide, because of this they could get by with a single 4 pin molex, and in this case XFX did just that to allow their users some flexibility (say their PSU doesn't have a 6 pin?).
