I understand that PC100 runs at 100 Mhz and PC133 runs at 133Mhz, but what do the notations mean on different types of DDR mem?

PC1600 - 100mhz
PC2100 - 133mhz
PC2400 - 150mhz
PC2700 - 166mhz

I think this is right , all I know for sure is my crucial PC2100 is running smoth @ 160mhz with 2.8v flowing through it :D

Does the pc2400 only give an advantage if you overclock, or does it also improve memory performance when having the bus at 133?

Having PC2400 only gives you an overclocking advantage. Since PC2400 isn't a real standard, it just means that they've been tested to run at 150. I believe 2700 was the next standard, but I may be wrong. It has been a while since I've read up about DDR Ram
