View Full Version : abit il8 vmod
since i can't find a vmod guide for this board anywhere on the internet, it looks like I need to pioneer one myself. I posted at vr-zone.com also to see if some of the guru's there can help since i've never done a vmod before, let alone one froms cratch. So, it looks like my first step is figuring out the codes of all of the ICs on the board. To my understanding, and IC is an integrated circuit, first off, and they only have solder points on 2 sides of the chip. Am I right about that? So, i took a picture of the board online and circled points i thought might be IC's, the one with the arrows is the one i suspect will be the one i need to add the resistor to:

and the un-modded pic:

are those all the IC's from what you can tell?
Yes...what voltage(s) are you planning to mod exactly?
vcore. right now the bios only goes up to 1.425v i believe, and the droop is way too large to run the d 805 above 185mhz and 1.325v
Yep, the one you marked would be the one. You need to find out which pin is marked feedback (or possibly vsense), using the spec sheet for that IC. Once you find the pin, find the resistance between it and ground, the variable resistor you'll want should have max resistance of roughly 20x the measured resistance.
Soldering onto that IC directly will probably be rather difficult though. You can usually alternate points in the same area. Alternate points will have zero resistance with respect to the IC pin. Some DMM's have a continuity check that makes finding these a lot easier.
Unfortunately I have no idea how vdroop is implemented.

Link to the datasheet? What markings are on the regulators? I cant see sheet. :D
ok that IC is: 57AK8TK LVC06A
I have no idea where to go from there but i found a load of data sheets for LVC06A

Hnag on man. I'll get back to this after my exams (Wednesday)
np, i probably won't even get to this mod until after christmas anyway
