I have confirmed it now with 3 people that the OEM chip they got was made in the PHILLIPINES. I am pretty sure that most of the OEM 1.2 celery chips are mad ein the PHILLIPINES.

Good info...

For those of you that have purchased the Celly 1.2 Tualatins that are Phillipine born, can you provide info on what retailer you purchased them from? I saw a post from Ol' Man that says that googlegear was selling the Malaysian born stock. I wanna stay away from them then.

Thanks!

Edit: I just checked the CPU Database and most of the ones in there are Malaysian, ALL of them listed are SL5Y5 codes (retails).

Does anyone have an OEM (SL5XS code) that's not Phillipines made? And if so where was it bought from...

I should have my Abit ST6 by midweek... $85 bucks!

Well I got mine from googlegear and it's the malaysian chip. I have it running rock solid @ 1.68ghz at 41c under full load. I'm going for 1.703ghz, but not to sure I can pull it off it keeps giving me fits, but anyways go here for the pics of it at 1.68ghz. 1.68ghz (http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=showMyPhoto&albumID=25562246&photoID=26418900&security=VrKzqnQtki)

I got my malay chip back today from chipzilla and prelim testing has got it too 1.7GHz. I am going to back off know but you must know I am cryo cooling this chip with coolant around -10 deg. C. I will leave some sandra posts in a while @ 1700. Everyone I know that has a phillipine chip can hit 1.6 at least and at low vcores. If you get a malay chip that can hit 1.68 at around 1.65v then you have a freak chip cause that is abnormal. I have to use 1.8v and -10 deg. C coolant to hit where I am at. I am hoping that my block is touching good and it may not be. I am going to do a good burnin' this week to see if it will do anything.

I was noticing today that 2 of the bigger, reputable sites that I've bought from before are starting to carry the Celeron 1.2 retails(mwave.com & compuplus.com) but they aren't telling folks that you need a B-stepping i815 or 694T chipset board to run them. I imagine that they are going to eat some burnt chips before they put up a warning about running them on old motherboards.;)

Well as far as cooling goes I have a sk6 with the 60 mm delta on their and the temps are at 44c under full load. Now this is what is hard to believe when I slap on my coolermaster hs with the 60 mm delta I get 42c under full load. Somethng does not seem right, but I feel the hs and it's not a bit warm. Sorry no pics as of now but hope ot have some soon.

Is your SK6 making good contact?

What vcore are you running too?

I think it is definitely making good contact as if he were to hit 1.68gig only at 44 Celius where Pinky and them are hitting 1.5gig with 50 Full Load.

Yes I have checked it all and it makes contact, but I don't know why it doesnt do better. The only thing i can think of since they run cool to begin with is the gaps on the coolermaster are wider and with a 6800rpm fan it gets right down there, but I doubt it. Oh by the way im at 1.57 volts to.

Well I tried getting some more out of this chip, and to my suprise it's up to 1.692ghz now, and at 1.703 it will almost get to the desktop and then give the bsod. So i'm suspecting it's my ram though, so I'll have to get some more ram asap.

Dude you have to try prime or some other stability tester cause I find if I can almost get to the desktop then I had better knock the fsb down about 2~4 nothches cause even if I do get to the desktop prime is not going to be stable. Best do that and tell us how it goes. I thought you were running a stability test on this chip but I am thinking no now.

Ok I'll try that but at 1.692ghz i played tribes 2 for a couple hours at this speed and it ran fine, but I'll run prime to see whats up. Oh and do you have any info on how to get more voltage for the cpu. thanks

I've got more questions... :)

Are all you guys running with or without the IHS?

Is the tualeron 1.2 with IHS the same height as say a standard .18 micron P3/Celeron??

With the IHS is removed, how much shorter is the tualeron 1.2 than a standard .18 micron chip? I imagine that just tweaking the HSF clip a bit would firm up any loose HSF <--> core contact problems...

It has been found that not all OEM chips are going to be Philli chips! But you do have a better chance it appears of getting one of them if you buy OEM from a site that has been reputable in having the philli chips!

This is true however I have seen 5 or 6 posts with people asking "where did you get your Philli chip" with no responses. That's why I took a chance and ordered an OEM anyway but got a Malay. Come on peeps with the Philli chips pony up. Where did you get them?

I got my chip at a local pc store. They only had OEM. At that time, I didn't care if it was malay or flippy, but to my surprise when I decided to read my chip, it was indeed a flippy :D

I got mine at Atic.
