I can't wait much longer for AMD's next XP processor lineup to be released, then I'll finally be able to upgrage my 2 boxes again!:) I would like to have a real speed of 1800MHz or maybe 1900MHz without overclocking and have them be manufactured with the new 0.13 micron die process so they require less power and emit very little heat from the core! I don't think the XP's Core design will reach the 2.0GHz mark (unless we overclock them of course!) because that's a job for the Hammer's 32/64-bit Core. What name will AMD give it's Code Named: Hammer or ThuroughBread CPUs? Who really knows! I'm guessing the Athlon Hammer or the Athon SuperXP Processor.Yeah! :)
We should expect a new CPU ZIF Socket design for the Hammer and ThuroughBread Lines. It is probably going to be as tiny as the newer Intel P3 and P4 designs becuz of their 0.13 micron die size, have a 500 pin processor count and support the new internal CPU thermal diode sensors. Will they call it the Socket A1, the Socket B, or the Socket 500? The Socket 500 sounds nice like the Indy 500 does! AMD should consider installing CPU Core protection copper covers and heat spreading copper covers for their next CPU and on like Intel does now (except for the copper part. That's what they sould be made out of anyways!)! This will make their Procs more durable and alot easier to cool them down! That's all for now. :D

Of course, as we have all learned by now, MHz is not the true measure of performance.
An overclocked 1800+, (in some cases not even overclocked)buries a 2.GHz Pent. I want better speed, as do we all, but let's be thankful that AMD has given us a nice alternative to Intel!

It is in my book Flounder from The Little Mermaid! The more CPU cycles you have the better performance you will recieve. It has been proven by all us overclockers over and over! That's why we O/C are Procs in the first place. To get more and more processing power from our systems then they're designed to give! By the way Flounder43, is that a picture of you as your Avatar?

Yes, I am sorry to force that picture on you, but I thought it sort of silly...

Your new Avatar is better that your old one becuz it tells other guys in the Forums that your not into the little mermaid thing with that user name you have. Disney's The Little Mermaid is for little boys and girls only! Not for young adults or older adults unless your wacko or something! Just a thought by the way. ;) Well, I'm off to bed now. Good Night! all you Fans of MAC Attack! :D :D :D

you don't wnat to know what Flounder43 is into;) just kidding
Cheers!
it dosnt matter about the clock speed.
You cant compare an Alpha or SPARC to an X86 chip on mhz
better to compare on flops :P
Mhz its beggining to become an old messurment.
Even x86 manufacturers are starting to spin of in whacky ways.
I mean Intel is losing its power gain on the chips to AMD.
so its not just in the clock cycles.

Get back to the top of the list you stupid thread! I didn't type you all up for nothing you know. OK! What do you peoplz think about all the stuff about AMD's next class of CPUs I talked about in here? If I don't get anymore replies to this post in 60min. it will self destuct and be gone forever. It's up to you to keep it alive!
Well AMD will be releasing this hammer thing soon which is 64bit(?)

do you think they will even call it an athlon since they will be using the new 0.13 micron die that no athlon ever had? they probably will i was just wonderin what yall think.

I think that the "Athlon" name has a very good reputation. I mean what negative thing is there except for heat? I think they would be fools not to use the name in some way. Atleast stating that it is based on athlon architecture.
