well, i just bought a Silverstone strider st75f and its in my rig right now, runs nicely cept for the 24pin doesn't really like my 20pin motherboard all that much. but anyways.

the psu says that there is a minimum load on the rails and stuff, and im not sure if im using all the rails, mainly because i only have one cpu, and i have a 20pin mobo, with an agp graphics card that uses a molex connector.

i was never worried before because before i just had a one rail 18a 12v line, but now i have 4 lol. i wanted to get a single giant rail, but i just had to get this one and for the money, i decided it would be my best bet.

any thoughts? or am im just being paranoid. (which i think i am)

Confusing statement, start out saying runs nicely immediately followed by doesnt really like my 20 pin mb all that much... What are you saying, it works well or it doesnt?

Your CPU should meet the min 12V requirements of the PSU without using a PCIe graphics card no problem.

it does work nicley, its just that the clip to latch the connector to the mobo is off center, so its loose in the mobo, so i taped it up so it won't budge. its just that the mobo plug on the psu is 24pin and my mobo is 20pin, but the 24pin psu is only made for 24pin mobo, it isn't backwards compatible like others

well, the minimum requirements are awfully low, but im worried about the 12v2 rail really. this is what its supposedly is. but after re-reading it i realize that all of the lines are being used except for cpu-1 (which is on the 12v2 line)

so its not the pci-e at all, its that line. i think it should be fine though because most computers don't have 2 processors i think

12V1: CPU-2 (via EPS12V 8-pin), ATX12V 4-pin
12V2: CPU-1 (via EPS12V 8-pin), EPS12V 6-pin AUX
12V3: main ATX 24-pin, one PCI-e interface
12V4: peripheral Molexes, SATA, other PCI-e interface

Doesent siverstone give you a 24 pin to 20 pin converter?.... mine came with one its dam ugly (not sleved) but oh well.

Can I plug a 24 pin power connecter into a 20 pin MB, with just the extra 4 pins going nowhere?

Taped? Annoying enough when they constantly change cpu sockets, now its ps sockets. I was thinking to order one of these but I have 20 pins as well so have to look at something else

its not bad, its just some painters tape, i use that because if you remove it, theres nothing remaining. don't use electrical tape though, that will leave a mark.

another thing i did was loop it in such a way that it extends beyond the side of my case, so when i put my case on and force it closed it pushes the connection together, and voila, no moving. but i will definantly find a better way, but im more busy beating Splintercell lol.

anyways back to the question at hand.. is it bad not using the 12v2 rail?

not really, I seriouly doubt the 12V has two actual power sorces.
