Which motheboard will u go for? Intel or Non Intel?

Y Intel?
Well, Quick Boot, Rapid Boot makes Boot rate faster and higher and Intels technology is suprisingly wonderful

Y not?
You see people OC b4?? but OC doesn't matters speed that much n as far as I have concerned..... Intel CPU cant OC much (except fro cele 566) so....

And does Intel have a board that supports Tualatin??

I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean Intel chipsets or do you mean Intel brand motherboards or do you mean Intel CPUs? I would never buy an Intel brand motherboard, but I like Intel CPUs and motherboards made with Intel chipsets (like Abit and Asus motherboards). There are lots of Intel CPUs besides the Celeron 566 that overclock very well too.

I doubt I'd ever use an Intel brand motherboard unless it was given to me free. Even then it'd be a tough decision:)

As for not being able to OC much on Intel, let's break out the calculator. From the CPU database: If an AMD tbird 1000 can OC to 1500 reliably, that's a 50% bump. If a P3 700E can OC to 1050 reliably, that's also 50%!!

Now then, what CPUs can't OC much? :) of course not all the chips will OC so well but you get my point right?

No Intel branded mobos for me, but Intel CPUs and chipsets all the way!!!

I mean Intel brand motherboard..... duh!
Do you think Via and SIS has good chipset for a P3??

sigh..... overclocking doesn't help usually... exept for banchmarking!

Intel motherboards don't support OC'ing. if you manage to find a way to OC one, I garantee it won't be stable. (It's nice having friends who do their engineering internships at Intel...)

Overclocking does really help performance, but if you don't want to overclock, then that's cool too. I'm not going to twist your arm. For stability, dependability, and performance for the P-3, I'd go with an Intel 815 chipset motherboard made by either Abit or Asus. Hard to beat that combination. VIA chipset would be my second choice if you're on a tight budget, and SIS is very last, in my opinion.

yocing helps a lot, i could get a Cely1.2 and take it up to 1.6, and make any Athlon 1600+ system scream in agony as it loses test after test...

Ok, now I get it. Chipsets! Via makes a GREAT chipset, I learned the OC ropes on a Pro133A- still a great 'set. i815 is pretty good too, but I prefer Via myself. I am not a fan of SiS, yet, they have a ways to go before they earn my money.

oh and BTW- can you tell me WHY you say OCing doesn't help except for benchmarks? I hear that a lot from folks who don't OC and it's got me curious.....

I mean, if a bmark is a measure of performance, and the bmark increases when you OC, then you are really getting a performance increase. QED. Although maybe not a huge one...maybe I misunderstood.

Well, maybe some people believe that bmark onlys bunch of nubmers and does not mean anything in the real world... i have to agree in some degree it is true, but one cannot simply deny how much performace gain from ocing!

i scanned intels website
they state any mobo that supports p3 coppermines
will support the tualitans,
but only the ones that they advertise as being such
p.s. look up tualitan supported mobos
you will find what you are looking for.

Intel just puts on biggest ***** i have ever whitnessed! and i quote, "Any mobo that supports PIII will support the tualitans." Well, if the above statement is true i will be livin' in a high life...:p dont have to go through the pain of saving money just to purchase another T or B stepping mobo for tualitans. Anyway, i am just bsing, for i have all my finals and papers due soon... Damn, college life sucks
