I know this has been discussed before but is 69c (62-64 TAT) load safe for everyday use?. I'm running at those temps with 3.6, where with 3.5 I was at 62 load on coretemp and 56-57 on TAT. I had to do 1.66vcore to get to what is apparently 4 hours stable so far. Thanks.

70C can be safe. It is not reccomended to go much more than that. If you get to 80 I'd start to get worried.

Yeah I won't be topping 70 for sure, I'm doing 400 FSB 3.6 and that was my main goal anyway I don't need anything beyond that. its taking me a lot of vcore but my cooling has kept it possible thank god otherwise I would have been mad about this chip holding me back from it.

Intel claims 75C is the top, but they surely have some safety zone built in. Besides that, if it gets too hot, processor just slows/shuts down, so I wouldn't worry too much. I have actually seen one running at 83C for couple of hours...

I think the spec is 60C for Core 2 desktop. I'll let mine run to 67-68 for 24/7. For trying to get those last few Mhz, 72C. I don't think bad things happen until you hit 85C, but by then the processor will likely shut itself down

Mobile is much different. 100C is where the shutoff is. I run my T7600 at 3.4 Ghz and it'll get to 82-83C if I let it go 100% and overnight.

Intel spec states 60.1C is maximum case temperature.

I'm having a hard time stabilizing 3.6, I don't understand how I can stabilize 3.5 fairly easy but have such a tough time with 3.6.

Well it could be very well the limit of the board and its voltage ti can give. 1.6V for 3.5Ghz is quiet a bit of volts, and not mentioning how much your pumping into it for 3.6Ghz.

dkizzy,

3.6GHz @1.450v is doable on air cooling . . . . . with full load temps of 60C.
I have your same CPU and PSU; but I have a different board. I run my power through an APC.

Perhaps your room temp is higher than mine (68F/20C) or you are not moving as much air through your case as I am (7x80mm fans) or the SI-128 cools better than the Tunig tower.
