Some of us who are using the supermicro P4DC6 motherboard have been told by Supermicro that they expect Prestonia chips to work in this board. So, this suggest that I860 will work with at least some Prestonia chips. Also, it appears there will be some socket 603 Prestonias. However, I have heard rumors of a socket 604 as well.

As for chipsets that will "Offically" support Prestonia Intel 870 and serverworks Grand champion are 2 that I know of. As I said previously supermicro seems to think some versions of Prestonia will work in their current Intel 860 boards, but I don't know if Intel 860 will "officially" support Prestonia. It may wind up being like coppermine and 440Bx where it wasn't "officially" supported but in some motherboards it worked nonetheless. Most I860 boards do not have any overclocking option, as these are obviously not overclockers motherboards starting at $500 and up, and they only support 100Mhz or 400Mhz FSB. However, at least a couple of boards, supermicro P4DC6 and perhaps the Tyan thunder I860, do seem to have clock generator chips which might be capable of generating a 133Mhz or 533Mhz FSB clock. The only problem is there is no jumper or setting in the bios to set them to this clock speed and apparently the clock generators aren't programmable through software. However, by hacking and soldering on the motherboard it may be possible to set the FSB to 133Mhz or 533Mhz.
