Has anyone ever used a program called cpu cool.
hmmm.. i should not answer u because im not sure..
i think i readed a review for this program once, it was very favorable. i recall it would simulate something like a power saving mode for the CPU to decrease the temps when idle. i guess it was this i the name seems to be very similar to what i can remember.

I use a program that is very similar. It is called softcooler and idles the cpu to bring the temperatures down. It works after it is needed, if you are using 100% of your cpu clock cycles like with seti or ripping then it does you no good. When you are done ripping or whatever then it idles the cpu down (I don't know how) so I have noticed that it does'nt cool my cpu down until after I have run an intensive application.
Hope that helps.

what are your temps? do you really need to cool down at idle?
if you are using an amd cpu this may be ill advised.mobo makers tried this on earlier boards using bios but later bios'es did not include clock throttling because it caused instability.
if you really want to use this try wpcredit and wpcrset yhey will allow tou to change the register settings for idle(as well as other settings) and is easy to use but if you are oc'ing remember stability!
i have used these freeware progs in the past but have givin in to bios updates.
You can try it. Then you can come to your own conclusion concerning whether it is worth buying.
It is shareware and I think that at the end of the trial period it prompts you to do something different everytime you use it to convince you to buy it.

I just want something to monitor the temps in my box without paying 29.00 for hmonitor.
Use motherboard monitor to measure your temperatures.
I find that CPUCool is kind of stupid..
Why cool your computer while its idle when you can do Seti or Folding..
Just my 0.02..

I dont know how to use motherboaed monitor and i just joined folding and am in process of joining seti
Open the settings of it, hit the temperature tab and pick a Diode.

Dont know how to do that . Tell me how and what is a diode

After posting I played around with the softcooler because I had never used it before except to experiment a little bit with it. I thought it was gimmicky and probably too good to be true. I confirmed this last night by monitoring my cpu usage using amn refrigerator. The cpu cooler will actually increase the number of cpu cycles at idle sometimes as much as 30 to 50%!
The utility comes with the MSI mobo but after looking at temps with and without and the fact that it actually eats up clock cycles (I figure it slowed down seti by at least two hours. I usually kick a work unit out in under 8 hours but the last one took 10 hours with it on). I can't really recommend a software cooling solution. A fan is inexpensive and will not eat clock cycles.
