View Full Version : XFX 7600GT Overclocks... Abnormally high

I have an XFX 7600GT in my system I built about two months ago, and I downloaded coolbits and pushed the "detect optimal settings" button, assuming it would do it's work.
A few minutes ago, I was browsing around and noticed that my clocks were abnormally high compared to other results I have found...
670MHz Core, 1740MHz memory on stock cooling. Idles at mid 40s, and 60's during peak load.
Am I ridiculously lucky, or is there an error with coolbits? This is all on stock voltage by the way. In terms of overclocking knowledge on a scale of 1-10, I give myself a 5. I'm really curious...
EDIT: Completely stable... I'm running benchmarks now.
EDIT2: How much room does "detect optimal settings" leave for further overclocking usually?
hmmm.. very strange, my old (dead) 7600 GT died after running 600 core and stock mem (core was on water, mem was absolutely cooling free) for about 2 or 3 months.
I'd be careful, if nothing else. Watch temps, test for artifacts, monitor voltages, etc.
But on the other hand... CONGRATS
and :welcome:

the core is 10mhz higher than the stock 560, and the mem should have been 1400 stock. I only increased mine to almost 1.6 ghz and left it at that. Now your mem clock is insane.
edit: wow I just read 670, I dunno man I kinda doubt that the stock cooling on these 7600GTs can handle a 100mhz core increase...lol

Sorry to bring this back up, but I feel I have a worthy cause, and it needs to be shown what this card can do!
I had it 3DMark06 stable for a good 20+ hours of benching over the last two days, core speed was between 666MHz and 672MHz, and I managed to get my memory up to a staggering 1810MHz (905MHz)!
As far as The Orb is concerned, that puts my 3DMark06 score in second place, and hwbot.org puts me in 12th place overall with 7600GT's, and for overall, puts me ahead of several 7800GT's and 7900GT's! I guess I got quite a good bang for my dollar.
I don't know of any overclock databases, so is it really abnormal to see clocks this high?
(This is intended to brag a little bit, but is mainly intended to find a good video card overclock database to help chose future cards... Sifting through the forums is rather annoying, while there could be somewhere with graphs or tables showing average overclocks for specific cards).

Man, I cant even get my 7950GT that high with a Zalman cooler. Ive only been able to coax 640 core 1550mem.

Just a heads up, but your sig says you have a 7050GT ;)
I'm still ecstatic... Running a bunch of 3DM05's right now, since my old score is from a week ago before I set my computer up for benches.
I still have my question though, can anyone help me confirm if I have the highest 7600GT air cooled 3Dmark06 score? Also, I'm still looking for a card overclock database...
Thanks!

Nice....... that's some pretty impressive doody.....LOL.... try this for a good comparison database......
http://www.hwbot.org/
hope that helps. Just look up the cards you want and get the top rankings... it lists there clocks and should tell you if they were air or water cooled.

damn thats a badass card!! gotta love XFX

I believe the guy with over 900 mhz on the core was using phase change/ln2/DI... no way that's with air or water :P
Other news, I just ran a 4140 in 3dmark06... woohoo :)

WOWOWOW looks like you got a gem of a card there... cus thoes are some pretty insane clocks... and 4110 for 3dmark06 off a 7600gt is WOW good... my 7900GT ko 512mb @ 560/1550 did 5500 in 3dmark06
and coolbits auto dectec leaves some room for more ocing... see how high that damn thing will go!!!

Every card is different. Some struggle to get more than 2% over stock, while some, like mine, do very very well :)
I'm going to do a volt mod this weekend and see if I can push 690/920 :attn:
And for the life of me, I can't break 7500 in '05... Dang it :(

Is it safe to do the overclocking with coolbits or what? Because with my old geforce4 ti 4200 i did it directly with the bios itself.

i used to use rivatuner to overclock my ol' Ti4200 - but that was a few years ago. much older version of riva... the final release should work... shouldnt it?

Congrats :)
I am actually tempted to pick up the 26" version of this monitor with 1900x1200 resolution, but it's like $600-700 locally... Plus, I'll need at least an 8600U when they come out to run any games at that resolution... Oh well, I'm happy with my single 22" right now, hands down the nicest monitor I've ever owned.
Anyways, I'm going to make one last attempt at breaking 7500 in 05 tomorrow, after that I'll probably have to put my computer out of commission for a few days while I paint my office and assemble my new desk.
I'm currently in fourth overall with my 05 scores behind three systems with much more powerful CPU's and with card speeds only possible with extreme cooling (second overall behind an extreme cooled system in 06), so until somebody proves me otherwise, I'm claiming the title of the world's fastest air cooled 7600GT
Night everyone, happy OCing!
Edit: Weather forecast for tomorrow is saying we're getting temperatures of -20 celcius, plus wind chill (-40, woohoo!)... I'm going to pick up some ducting after class and try to get #1 in 06 and 05 with some extreme air cooling. Now I need to think were to find a high CFM fan to push the cold air through the ducting... Hmmm

 I think your 7600 beat either of my 7800GTs...shame you probably can't get another like that, that would make for a beast of an SLI setup
Congrats on owning a record! It's cool to know a celebrity :D

Glad to see this, I ordered one last night from Tiger Direct. I usually don't OC a video card but it is nice to know that i could. This MX200 is killing me.

hmmmm, i just randomly bumped up my friends overclock to 620 core and i cant remember how much i bumped up the mem.
i need to check it out and see how much more i can push things.

Wow, got mine today and ran Coolbits and it set it to 665 1740. These must be great cards as I only have the stock cooler. I only scored 15227 in 3D 03 but it was really smooth. It does idle at 53c so I might get another cooler for it.

Congrats! I should have my system back up and running again tomorrow, and hopefully get my 3DMark03 tests done... I topped out at 15999 so far, I'm trying my hardest to break 16500 haha. We'll see how things go, I might go out and buy a dryer duct and some powerful fans, the weatherman is calling for some -20 temps later this week
