guys if i buy a voodoo 5 5500 64mb AGP VC and the same PCI one and put both of them into my computer would i be gaining something, cause i remember my teacher told me he once combined to voodoo 2's and he had even greater performence, can this be done with joining voodoo 5's??

You would be gaining a card that you won't be able to get drivers soon as they went south. He was talking about hooking them up in an SLI configuration. I am not sure about the 5500's though I just sold the one i had. Nice card though.:beer:

My guess would be no... Most mobo's that I know of have a bios setting of AGP or PCI not both... leaving no other way to run both at the same time... no onboard connectors on the v5 either... just my educated guess though ;)

When the 2's were PCI you could use the SLI config.:beer:

My friend actually did just that. He used to v2 2000's but they were both PCI. I'm not exactly sure how he got to run them in tandem, but they were about as fast the v5 5500.

There's a connector for a cable on the card... you connect the 2 two cards with the provided cable... I never actually did it because I had a Diamond Monster II... in order to do SLI with it you needed a second "special" card... it looked almost identical to the primary but had no video out (I think... that's how I remember it anyway... could be wrong :))
Actually I believe you can do this but only with a very rare V5 made by Quantum or some other company. the regular v5's can't work together for a 6000 like card.

You could use both of em for Dual Monitors
But you couldn't 'combine' their speed

As far as I know the Voodoo5's DO NOT support SLI, though the chipset VSA-100 does, the card was not designed for it, it was suggested to 3dfx that they make a version of the VSA-100 for sli use like the old Voodoo2's and this would help thier budget problems, but they didnt do that, Also I have a Diamond Monster 2, you do not need another "special" card you just have to simply have another of the same brand and teh cable which is basicly the same as a floppy cable only different in some way. Hehe, Athlon, Voodoo2, ATI Radeon, and Win2kpro= one freaky combination! but it works. Great for Tribes 1...
So if you get 2 V5 pci's no that will not work in sli, thier disign simply does not support it. Also im not sure but it was thought u could run more than 2 Voodoo2's at once.

Just get one geforce 2 ultra for a hundred bucks or so and be done with it! Haven't checked price lately, but they are not expensive and will kick a VD 5500's butt. CHeck priced here.

nah voodoo kicks but, everyother card shows blue stuff fro far away, but not voodoo, plus in unreal tournament voodoo 5 actually shows a shadow, instead od a big box following you.

im not quite sure what got you hung up on voodoo but they sucks, especially the pci if you go here (http://www.hardocp.com/reviews/vidcards/shootout/v5-gf2/page2.html) you can see a reveiw of the geforce 2 GTs vs the voodoo 5 agp or you can go here (http://gamecenter.taiwan.cnet.com/hardware/Voodoo5_vs_GeForce2GTS/ss03.html) where geforce 2 crushs the voodoo 5

Speed isn't everything though.

all these benches show is that the GF2 is faster, i dont really care about speed that much, i go for quality, so unless you find me 2 similar priced cards, and show me there benches of quality and max resolution support, then i would perhaps change my mind.

I doubt a geforce 2 could overclock like my voodoo, it goes to 197, anything higher, even 1 mhz gets art. thats a 19% overclock, and I can get about 8 fps in the nature scene in 3dmark2k1!

ki have a voodoo 5500 and i can't run any of the nature scenes in 2001. i thought they weren't hardware supported. what am i missing?
