Forgive me if this has been hashed before but I don't visit this section very often.
I send back one of these cards because it seemed to be completely dead. After testing by ATI, they said it was fine but sent me a "service unit" as a repalcement. Anyway, I was using a Diamond Stealth II and it was working fine. I decided to put the ATI back in and I cannot get the software and drivers to load and recognize the card. When I uninstall the drivers that it won't work with it gives me a protection fault before the OS(Win98) will load and then says there is a problem with the "Stacks" and haults the system. Then I go into the safe mode and change the driver back to the standard VGA and reboot. Then try to install the ATI software again and it seems to go fine. But each time it gives me the faults before starting the OS. So, I went back to the Diamond card and it loaded without any problems.
Am I missing something here? IS there an issue with the ATI card that didn't show up with my original one?

See sig for system setup.

Thanks all!

have you tried a fuly system reformat? Because the diamond stealth probably has registry entries that are conflicting with the ATI card.

I fixed this problem but you won't believe how.

The solution is posted in the general hardware section titled"weird CD-RW drive"
