X-Fi platinum - remote no worky

JUST bought a soundcard to finish up my Core2 build, and I can't for the life of me, get the dang remote to work. I've tried new batteries, new driver install and updates, and searched on here for something similar, but nothing.

The flat cable is on right, the bay device has power.....I just don't get it.:(

It has to be turned on in the creative software, did you do that? Also of course that particular piece of the software had to be installed. Install it all if you haven't then uninstall what you don't need.
