So for christmas, i got a new E6400 among some other things for my comp. I was just wondering if you guys could tell me if this particular one is a good one/
on the proc it reads:
6400 SL959 MALAY
2.13GHZ/2M/1066/06

You got a week 32 (I havn't seen any poor results with 32), usually all the newer Core 2 Duos are great / solid clockers. Happy clocking

Week 32, A chip. Your guess is good as ours :) Only way to truely know is to plug in the chip and really read off the VID in Coretemp. If its low (anything lower then 1.325V) then congrats you'll have a decent clocker. If its 1.325V its a toss up but should hit 3.4Ghz with 1.5V at a minmum.
The lower the VID the better since VID equals a 3.0-3.3Ghz clock using that voltage.

From what I've heard, add some Freon and it'll be really fast.

LOL. so, just pour it on top
Anyways, I just totally revamped my computer. Originally, i was going to just upgrade the core components, but the money tree that I have in my back yard is in full bloom and I am able to pretty much build a new system, besides the optical drives.
My current specs are as follows:
Gigabyte 7VAXP Pro - - Athlon XP 1700 Thoroughbred B - - 512mb of PC2700 ram - - GeForce 4 Ti4400 - - Antec TruPower(I think thats what its called) 450w - - A few IDE Hard Drives. - - A bad ass camo case :) (Link (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=253627&highlight=camo+case+mod))
My New System's specs will be:
Gigabyte DS3 - - Core 2 Duo E6400 - - 2gb G.SKILL DDR2-800 CL4 ram - - GeForce 7950GT - - Antec NeoHE 500w - - 160gb sata HD
This should be a HUGE improvement over my old system. Once I get everything all set up and good to go, I will be sure to put it to any test you guys wanna see. The new system will also have the thermalright ultra120 (BTW does anyone know if that thing will fit on the DS3? The chipset heatsink looks kinda big).
The video card, hard drive, and power supply have been shipped. In 2 days I will order the second stick of ram, a new case, and some quiet fans.

It'll work but you'll probably want a condensing unit to recycle it. Freon is too expensive to just throw away. Check Xtremesystems to find out how to do it. Your cheapest option is to make a chiller from a window A/C. You'll be bottlenecked by the freezing point of water but it'll work.

I just started playing with my L632A942 and have gotten it to 3.2GHz @ 1.35V
(VID was1.288)

What is the "VID". That's a new one for me. Thanks.
On this subject what is about the maximum an e 6600 has done, stably, on good air?

I dont really know what exactly VID means but i think it means "the default voltage"
Not sure about the maximum a 6600 has done but this (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1075792) should be a good reference.

Just get a tuniq tower or a big typhoon. They will be more then adequate for a typical overclock.

Or the Ultra-120 Thermalright heatsink.
What you absolutly want from a heatsink when you get it as well is a backplate to screw into. Not using the holes for a plastic clipping method like what the intel heatsink has.

I did not get the ultra120 because im just way too scared that it is too heavy, even with a back plate. All the comments I see of it are "great cooling!" and "OMG this is HEAVY". I went with this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835109129) instead.
Everything is on a truck for delivery! Even the extra ram (overnighted it :))
Now to godown to [my local computer store] and get a case...

Hope that was yesterday you overnighted it otherwise you won't get it til Tuesday :(
Wow, is mine any good? Hehe, mine is an earlier week 24. CPU-Z shows it running at 1.288v, VID shows 1.325 (methinks, or close).
Had the thing running with vcore set to auto, @ 400x8 = 3200. Perfectly stable. I had some Kingston "value ram" hanging around not being used...PC4300, and it is currently running at DDR800.
Currently running CPU-RAM @ 1:1
not too shabby. Wondering how high this bugger can go. Booted into windows fine at 425x8 = 3400....but unable to run some stability tests and the CPU-RAM had to be backed off to 4:3. so I'm thinking the RAM is holding me back.
Anyways, this is my first foray back to Intel since the 1.4ghz Athlon Tbird came out, thinking about six (6) years, Doh!
At my current specs this thing is blowing most older systems out of the water. I'm assuming this is an average CPU.
Using the Asus P5W-DH Deluxe motherboard.
thanks

This may not be of any concern to you, but DX10 is right around the corner, sadly older cards won't run it :(.
