A few days ago, I turned on my computer and it didn't beep and start-up as usual. The monitor stayed in sleep mode and there were no beeps indicating a problem. Do I have a fried processor on my hands? Oh well, I guess I'll just get a duron.

Usually symptoms of a fried processer are when the system will only boot in 100mhz(safe mode) and not 133. You will also get offsetting bios beeps ( I believe it is 1 long, 3 short). And finally it will not boot at all, if a processer is beyond that stage.

I took my computer completely apart multiple times and it still doesn't work. There is no visible damage to the processor. I don't know what the heck is going on. What could be the problem? This is driving me insane!

The main things to check and test are:
1-Processer
2-Memory
3-Power supply

have you tried resetting the cmos. mine did that once and it scared the crap out of me (wouldn't boot, monitor stayed in sleep) and i reset it and just had to reset my bios settings then i was back to normal. don' tknow if that'll work or not, but its worth a shot.

I would try the chip in a different system, then ram psu, etc...
