New 965P-DS3 and E6300 Overclock Attempt

ok, specs are:


gigabyte GA-965P DS3 board
Antec Smartpower 500w psu
2gb g-skil DDR2 800 (PC6400) 5-5-5-15 ram
Intel C2D 6300
arctic freezer 7
antec smartpower 500W PSU
ATI Radeon X1900XT 256mb Video Card

post on stock settings boots fine, but anything over stock (past stock i.e. 400 on 7 multiplier) makes the system boot with short beeps and restarts every time.

I know I'm doing something retartedly and simply wrong, but what is it?

Hey Mike, Welcome to the forums!

Your new rig looks alot like the one I just bought. Can you answer a few questions for me before we get started? Do you know if you have a revision C1 or C2 chipset? If you don't know open up cpu-z and it should say under the mainboard tab. Also, what bios are you running? Lots of people are having luck with the F8i bios. Have you tried increasing any of the voltages? Your PSU also might be holding you back, what are your rails at?
