ATI is having a clearance on Refurbed X800 256meg GDDR3 Crossfire edition cards, I'll be captain obvious and say that they are PCI-e
They are listed for $79 use the coupon code atiwe5 for 5% off and free shipping.
they carry a 1 year warranty and I think they are a great card for the money. They come with the crossfire cables and all the accessories.

I have not a clue but I wonder about flashing and what not. I am sure we have a couple of experts here who can fill us in

They say it has 16pipelines like the XTs but looking at the card its an x800 vanilla.
It is basically an 8 pipe card that was designed as competion for the 6600GT. This card also does not mod to anything better. If you want to CF this is probably a good cheap way to get it but otherwise not really worth it.

wow ATi finally releases x800 crossfire.... No really this product never hit retail channels until now. ATi decided to can the x800 crossfire when it got pushed back so far, heck x850 crossfire barly made it out one month before the x1800 series. I think that these cards where just used for internal testing before they decided to not mass produce them.
I wouldnt consider this worthwhile for anyone to buy. By itself a similarly priced card, if you look around enough can perform better, and in crossfire it will get killed by a card worth 80 bucks + what you can get in the classifieds for a x800 series card. Also it is not dual link so if you run it in crossfire mode you will only get a resolution up to 1600x1200 just like it is with x850 crossfire.

Looks can be deceiving...but there's no info on this card whatsoever, and I don't think ATi would lie that blatantly about the pixel pipelines on their website.
My best guess is that this card will be equivalent to an X800XT in clocks and pipes, and can be used for CFing X800XT PE's, etc. It should also be possible to CF X850XT (PE)'s with it if the slave card is downflashed.
I think its a good deal personally...find me any other retail card that performs better for the price, heck I don't think there any this cheap even in the classies.

There is no info on this card because it was never launched but if the specs are what they where expected to be back in sept 2005, before ATi decided not to launch it, then yes it should have 16 pipes and clock the same as the x800xt.

7600gt for about the same price after MIR (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814143049)
If you dont like MIRs then yes this is very good deal but I wouldnt run this in crossfire mode. If you already have a x800 series card then I personally think that it would be better to sell the card and then spend the 80 bucks that you would have spend on this for something else.
here is a link (http://www.hardwarezoom.com/viewcontent.php?docid=267&page=3&doctype=Reviews) to some info on the x800cf card from a preview back in 2005
http://www.hardwarezoom.com/docs/Reviews/267/x800cf.png
Heh, wow, $65 MIR, quite a whopping chop off the regular price. I personally have no problem with MIR's, but I'm in the vast minority on that. :p
7600GT is basically on par with the X800...however the X800 doesn't have SM3.0 of course. Arguably better IQ, more shaders and pipes though. Both great deals here.
I've never played with any of these ATI cards. Gonna grab 2 and see what they can do.

Ive always wondered what would pair up with the X800GTO² it has the r480 core where as the x800cf is r430. What decides which crossfire card it works with the core, the bios, or something else? Heck the X800GTO² might even work with both the x800cf and the x850cf depending on what bios you have active.

I wish it was an x800 16 pipe master I would be all over it.

In the article that I linked the master card does not require any additional power yet through ATi tool it shows 16 pipes.

If I'm not mistaken, the X800 Master card is supposed to be able to do crossfire with ALL X800 series cards. In that case it would pretty much have to have 16 pipes.

somebody get one and report how well they clock.:D
Probably about as well an X800XL...I was hoping it would be R423, but no dice on that I guess. Still a solid deal.
Btw the auxillary power connector has nothing to do with what core nor how many pipes it has.
Yeah I'm trying to think of someone who could use this...quite the deal
To clear up things regarding the auxiliary power connector, as gautam said it has nothing to do with which core is used. Xbit labs measured the power consumption of an X800 XT PE to be ~65 watts so thats the highest power draw you'd ge out of an X800 chip. The PCI-E slot can provide 75 watts while an AGP slot can only provide 50 watts hence the aux. power connector that many of us are familiar with on x800 series AGP cards.
I ordered 2 of them. They don't show tracking yet for my order but the following was in the confirmation email:

No, this will not crossfire with the X850 series AFAIK.
I thought it might since its simalar, I thought they were both 480 o well
It should work if you edit your X850's device ID down to an X800.

Yes.
According to this preview, dated May of 2005, the X800 CF mastercard should work with an X850XT "slave".
Quote from article:
One of the strong points of CrossFire is ability of different graphics cards to work together, which is very important, given the number of ATI RADEON X800 and X850 models already available on the market.
Since a CrossFire Edition graphics card is needed for ATI multi-GPU operation, ATI’s add-in cards partners will produce three CrossFire Edition graphics cards:
RADEON X850 CrossFire Edition 256MB – 16 pixel pipelines, 6 vertex pipelines, 520MHz/1080MHz core/memory. $549.
RADEON X800 CrossFire Edition 256MB – 16 pixel pipelines, 6 vertex pipelines, 400MHz/1000MHz core/memory. $299.
RADEON X800 CrossFire Edition 128MB – 16 pixel pipelines, 6 vertex pipelines, 400MHz/1000MHz core/memory. $249.
In general, ATI recommends to use CrossFire Edition cards with corresponding RADEON X800 or X850 chips, however, theoretically RADEON X850 CrossFire should work fine with RADEON X800 cards and RADEON X800 CrossFire will work well with RADEON X850 cards.

It is a much better card than the X800XL. It is the same as the original X800XT with the updated R430 core instead of the R420. It is the exact same card as the Fire GL X3 which is a professional grade card similar to the Quadro FX 3500. That is several steps above the 7600 in everything except speed where it is probably a dead heat. Two will get you around 19,000 in 3DMark 03. That is faster than my X1800XT. Downside is no SM 3.0

2ns ram, R430 core, just what we expected...should clock like an X800XL, i.e. 430-450 core and 590-610 memory should be doable. Depends on what you need. Its a solid card and should perform pretty well. Equal to a 6800GT , more or less depending on the situation.

481 isn't so hot either, but still way ahead of 430 for sure.

isn't the 6800gt better?
6800ultra comparable to x850xt pe

6800 vanilla comparable to x800/850 pro

the x800xl is a big step back compared to xt if you ask me.
but... i guess the good part in this is that it's a MASTER card. so like i asked before (if anyone knows), would it work with a x800gto flashed to 16 pipes?
would it also work with ANY x800/850 16 pipe card for the matter?

as a budget card, i'm sure it'll still kick ass in source... for $75 and the warranty AND xfire upgradeability, it may be quite worth it. you're only really missing out on sm3.0 to be quite honest.
what does xfire x800/850 compare to anyway, a 7900gt (disregarding the loss of sm3.0)?
isn't the 6800gt better?
6800ultra comparable to x850xt pe
6800gt comparable to x850xt

Erm, not in my version of the story, OC'ed that is. ;) In that case both X850XT PE and X850XT compare to the 6800 Ultra. I'd think you'd have been through enough X850XT's to realize they clock within 10MHz of PE's most of the time...
And my X800 Pro was certainly ahead of the 6800GT, but it was a gem. Either way as far as I'm concerned, X800XL and X800 Pro will easily hold their own against a 6800GT. For some reason no one ever wanted to believe it, but the Pro's overclockability is extremely strong, and the XL has 4 pipes on the GT. Of course I'm sort of slanted towards ATi...but its completely unfair to put an X850XT on the same level as a 6800GT as it is to put the Pro on the same level as the 6800 vanilla. Heck, the Pro was intended to compete with the 6800GT, and it did just that even at stock.
The X800XL's clock deficiency puts it pretty even with the X800 Pro, but not any lower, I'm sure HousERaT can attest to that. ;)

Bal`thzar,
Did I understand you correctly...based on your post it appears that there wasn't CrossFire cable included to connect the two cards together...is that right?
Per the ATI product page "In the Box" should have included the following items:
Hardware & Cables
RADEON® X800 CrossFire™ Edition 256MB PCI Express® Graphics card
DVI-I TO VGA Adapter
CrossFire™ cable
DVI to HDTV adapter
what the heck if the DVI to HDTV adapter... DVI to component, or DVI to HDMI? that's pretty cool they have that...
