Well i am going to school in a few weeks and i need a laptop for it. I wanted to get something that wasn't "just enough", and wanted also something that'll replace my desktop i have in my sig (yeah i know its a outdated desktop lol). I decided not to go with my gut instinct and get a dell, but instead i went with Sager. They had GREAT price for what you got. Here is the specs of what i am gonna order in a few days...

CPU Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5500 / 2MB L2 Cache, 1.66 GHz, 667MHz FSB
Video Controller Nvidia GeForce GO 7600 PCI-Express 16X Graphics with 256MB Video Memory
Memory 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 X 512MB
Primary Hard Drive 80.0GB (SATA 5400rpm) SATA 150 Hard Drive
CD-ROM/DVD-ROM 8X DVD ± R/RW/ 4X +DL Super-Multi Drive & Softwares
Battery 9 Cell Smart Li-ION Battery
Modem Integrated 56K V.92 Internal Fax/Modem
Network Adapter Integrated 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet LAN & Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG LAN 802.11a/b/g Module
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

The closest thing i could come up with on a Dell was slower ram, and just an x1400 w/shared video memory. Plus the sager gives me a 9 cell battary which will be good for school.

Is Sager a good choice? I never really heard much about them, and if there support is better then dells. Thanks for your input guys, much appreciated!

EDIT: BTW its a 15.4" NP2080C with a glossy screen too. I don't wanna get a 17" model and lug that thing around campus lol.

i got a 15.4" because i thought it was a good size to take around campus.

it was too big, went down to a 12''

if you can afford it, a 14.1" is the BEST size IMO, but they are probably the most expensive to get high end because they are rarer

I have a 14.0" NC 6000 and find it easy to port around than some of my books. 15.4" seems too big and might not fit properly on your lecture hall/classroom desks (my 14.0" barely does)

i bought myself a Sager for school (which was a few years ago) excellent machine, never once had any issues with it. Of course its a bit older now but it was 3.4ghz p4/1gb ram/9700pro/15" uxga 1600x1200.Doom 3 came out at about the same time, my pc stuggled the sager just laughed =)

For longetivity and some extra bang, I would get a T7200 or higher.

All in All, it looks good. Don't go with dells. My laptop is constantly having build problems and it just sits on my desk all day.

IBM is excellent too (pricey though)
