Win 2000 problems

1> when i shut down windows goes all the way to the black screen but wont shut down has small white blinking space in upper left hand corner. ( like it is in dos and is waiting for me to type something- I have to shut it down with the button).

2>sometimes the programs which are on will white out and I am forced to use crlt+alt+delete and then after the program's running screen I close it and it all clears up most of the time however some times I have to close everything.

any help would be appreciated.

Most of the time I have shutdown problems it's due to IRQ conflicts. Mainly with Sound blaster. You may want to try moving your sound card to another PCI slot. It may fix the problem. If not make sure you have the most up to date drivers for your hardware. That can cause those symptoms as well.

If it is an IRQ problem try getting the newest drivers of everything.
