No reason to be on SP1 as long as you have a valid copy of Windows.
 
Why? Unless you need a new license slipstreaming SP2 will work just fine, and save you some $$.
 
I had XP Pro when it 1st came out and got SP2 on CD-ROM when it 1st came out apart from problems with it at launch. 3 months after it was ok no bugs a lot more stable and after that I had it installed from then on till 3 weeks ago when I sold my Barton 2500+ & Socket A board.

Will be getting a fresh copy of Pro SP2 next Jan when I build my next system.
