How can you do that in Windows XP
or in OS without a floppy disk..

cuz I hav a mobo that cant sense floppy and now I need to upgrade BIOS so....
Let me see if I understand the question correctly....
You want to make a cd-rom version of the old "floppy" boot disc?? Well, this isn't the topic to ask that in...this should be over in "Software and Operating Systems", if that's the case....

Is this the way they do bootable OS CD-ROMs (like Windows CDs), that boot automatically in DOS ?

Hoping I understand your question, booting up from a CD-Rom is like booting from bootdisks just way faster that is if your CD-Rom supports it.
yes from what i understand and not just DOS, basically the bios, which includes the changable/cueable instructions looks for the offset and strap on the cd (boot sector), same that, it does for a floppy, when cued and HD. Linux NT 4/5 xp OS2 all non dos boot image, u can do floppy em, so you could set up a bootable CD to boot into DOS (so you can flash) and have your flash. exe and and bios files on that same cd, but is dos going to recognize your CD after it boots from it? can u jusrt cd into it? time for some oak drivers? but i would rather get a floppy drive, borrow one whatever but wtf it sounds fun
