Can linux be used as a format/fdisk CD
and where can u download this linux version
and what do u do in order to perform the fdisk + format functions??

Yep, try www.toms.net/rb for tomsrtbt, quite a good rescue disk, or try pocketlinux, can't remember the web URL tho. There are CD versions if you want them.

Slackware works out pretty good too.

cfdisk is a pretty easy to use partitioning tool.

Don't know if the Slack cd will let you format anything more exotic than an ext2 filesystem, though.
