Why is it that even with a GF3 I cannot get Direct3D 8.0 installed? I installed directX8, and the DirectX Driver Tool confirms that 8 is installed. But under direct3d version information it reports Direct Draw/Input/Play/Sound to be version 4.08.01.0881 DirectX 8. But where it says Direct3D version it says 4.07.00.0700. To confirm my fears 3dmark2001 won't run, it tells me "3DMark2001 requires a DirectX 8 compatible 3D accelerator." My DX8 games run fine (Dark Age of Camelot, Tribes 2) But I fear they aren't taking advantage of DX8. I can't even count how many times I've reinstalled video drivers and DX 8.1. I even reformatted and installed windows! But to no avail! Can anyone help me?
