View Full Version : re: p3 450 to 600mhz
I have a p3 450, abit be6 motherboard, voodoo5 agp card, sb live, nic card, UDMA 66 20 gB hd. I have had the cpu over clocked to 558mhz with fsb of 124(1/4) for a year. Today I bought some pc 133 cas2 ram (256mb). I was hoping to go to 600mhz+ But cant get there. I get a "invalid VxD dynamic link call to device number 3, service B run windows setup again" . I have read that it has something to do with ram so I thought maybe my bios chipset settings; I have tried with my SDRAM cas latency at 3, tried increasing cpu voltage, tried various other bios tweeks to make it work but I get that error and it shuts down or re boots right away. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Your core is going to be pretty well maxxed at 600. The motherboard and memory are probably not the issue. Cooling the CPU adequately will...
Not all Katmai cores make it to 600, which is why intel stopped using that core and moved to the coppermines.
see the chart here (http://support.intel.com/support/processors/sspec/p3p.htm)
I (recent posts) just set my fsb to 133 (1/4) , and my cas latencey to 3 with my c voltage at 2.1 and got "error while initilizing device NTKERN windows protection error restart computer" ....any advice getting this p3 450 to 600?
Preferably you've reached too much of a high fsb that exceed way too much of chipset range, so it'll give you Windows Protection error. Nothing much you can do about it rather than burn that chip it maybe.
Typically we don't keep creating threads if a question isn't resolved... we typically "bump" the thread back to the top by simply replying to it (you'll notice your other thread (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49170) is now towards the top...
It becomes cumbersome to scan thrwads and reread posts/questions about something you've already given your feedback on...
