Lost CD/DVD roms after installing SP2 (MS-7053)

Doh!

I have a MSI MS-7053 Rev 1, and after installing XP SP2, I've lost access to both ROM drives.

* The drives are installed in IDE3 and IDE4

* The drives do not show up in windows explorer

* Both ROMs show up in hardware manager with a yellow " ! "

* Flashing BIOS, driver updates fail to fix problem.

* Both drives show up in BIOS, and I can even boot from them.

* Uninstalling SP2 doesn't fix problem.



Not too many MSI gurus here compared to ABIT/ASUS

What does the yellow '!' say about the issue? Also, have you tried to uninstall the drives from the HW Manager, then rebooting to see if that fixes the issue?

That problem likely is caused by installing third party IDE drivers (not from Microsoft) before installing SP2!

Please install SP2 before installing third party IDE drivers!
