Hi,
I just ordered a Blue Orb from thermaltake, and i am wondering if it really helps to have it on instead of the regular cooler.
I Have MSI StarForce831 GeForce2Pro 64MB card, and it's running great...
Does anyone have any expiriences with the cooler??
oh, and also from thermaltake... the dragon orb 3.. the copper base one with 7000RPM... is that worth the money or not??
thx,

im useing the blue orb on my geforce card rirght now.. it helps alot. so yes that was worth it to me. altho you might wanna buy some acrtic sliver 2, instead of useing the paste that comes with the blue orb.
Ok caution, the blorb has a poorly made flat surface if you want to shave off like 5 degrees celius or more your going to have to buy wet sandpaper from 200-400-600-800-1000-1500
and start lapping it instead of using large amounts of thermal paste which makes it even more uneffective.
And use ARtic Silver two with it.

Although your card can run at much higher performance shaving off 3+ degrees.

is mounting it a problem or is it easy?? Please don't epoxy it on! The tabs on the orb should fit your card pins. Don't know about the others I made my own. (28C right now)

Try 2000 Sandpaper for a mirror finish...
Why didn't you get a Crystal Orb for about $3 more? Theres copper init and there made much better, not loads of pieces stuck together like the Borb....
You have a G2 though so you should be ok.
Heck Hercules use MODDED ones for there G3's...

well where i live i don't have access to something more... like the crystal orb, so this was the only thing i could have got...
The crystal orb and the blorb are basically the same thing really, just 1 degree difference once you shape that blorb into action.
The installation of the blorb are simple there are 2 clips and hopefully they will fit on your card and you just apply the thermal paste on the heatsink then the chip and you clip the clips.
If it doesn't clip it comes with thermal tape, or you can use the crazy way put 4 lil dabs of super glue in the corners and thermal paste in the middle and then put it on. The reason you don't put alot of glue is that it'll be impossible to take off and you put a little and it'll come off easily after in the freezer for 30mins.
But before you put it on the card, turn the card around so you see the side with the non-gpu heatsink and put the Blue orb over it and see if the clippings match and take on from there.

actually thje crystal orb is all copper, and has the same high speed fan, the performance difference is worth the 3 dollars, plus you dont have to lap it...

My blorb only added 5 MHz to my Gpu, but I think I can get more once I lap it!
The blorbs are much better with a large hole punched in the center and H2O cruising through.

depends on the make of card, if it is made to same as reference design it should fit, only problem would be the fins gtting in the way of capaciters or mosfits neer the GPU

I own a dragon orb3 cooler andhave to say it works great. My CPU temperatures range from about 87F to 91F although it is a bit loud.
You haven't even entered loud until you hear a Swiftech or a Alpha PAL 8045.
Dorb's have small fans so they aren't that loud about 40 dBA while the other ones are in 50 dBA's.
