I have an Asus 7900 GTX and an EVGA 7900 GTO. If I ran the GTO as the primary card would they work together in Sli? Or would I need to flash the GTO bios to GTX?

So the different manufacturers bios would mesh?

yes you can also force the flash the gto so it will be a evga! Just change the ID to read evga and force flash it using "nvflash -4 -5 -6 whateverbios.rom"

The GTO is an EVGA. When I flash the GTO to GTX it will be an EVGA GTX.

The "actual" GTX I have is an Asus and then I will add an EVGA "GTX" to the SLI. I remember reading something about BIOS having to match but there is SOOO much material brought up in a search I was hoping to get a clear answer on it before I start connecting components together.

ok sorry for the mixup. But EVGA's daont have an ID anyway. if you download nibitor it wont show a ID for the board vendor. So what i would do is flash both cards to say gainwards! And the force flash the cards. If you need any help i am on yahoo messenger or x-fire as "liftedcj7on44s"

GTO should have different ram. So be careful when you flash it to GTX.

I went ahead and purchased a second GTO in the classifieds to match mine. It's a lot less hassle and a lot less to worry about.

I know but I'm giving this system to my brother who has just now gotten into gaming so I want to make sure it's as stable as possible. He's moving to Kansas and that would be a long drive for me to go and fix anything from Washington State. :D
