I decided to make the conroe leap and ordered an e6600. Any opinions on the best motherboard to match it up with would be highly appreciated!:)
I'm just looking for stability and o/c ability, and the best bang for the buck.
TIA!
best bang for the buck? get the biostar 965p board.

my suggestion is the Asus.. since asus never let me down.. they make the best boards out there imo... si i`d go for a version of the P5B

The growing consisis is..
your looking for the Asus P5B-Deluxe (for rock solid stablity)
And what if we get an E6600 for nice overclocking to around 3.4-3.6GHz for daily use? Any suggested motherboards to reach nice clocks? Or will the ASUS P5B Deluxe be good for ocing.
As I was looking at the eVGA nVidia 680i SLI mobo

the P5B-Deluxe is overkill for overclocking the E6600 to 3.6ghz.. to be honest.. the Abit AB9-Pro would be a super value for that now that I think about it.. Cheap, Matrix raid, 400FSB EASY.

Hey Green what do you mean by the P5B Deluxe will be a Overkill for overclocking the E600 to 3.6ghz, be very grateful if you could explain this to me.
Thank you

Max FSB for the P5B-Deluxe is in the 560+ range.. WAY more then a 9 mulitplier CPU needs to top out on phase really, its more like a dry ice or LN2 mobo for a E6600. Then it needs hardmoded to hates and back, Vcore, Vdimm, Vdroop to get more Vcore.. you name it :p

I see thanks Green and one more thing becuase i was looking to get that board for my e6600, i was also thinking about getting the Intel BADAXE 2 Board instead of the P5B Deluxe

For the E6600 chips is the 975x Series better?
Whats the FSB speed for the E6600 at stock?
Do you know much about the Bad Axe 2 MB?

Im sure it can do 400FSB..
975X performs better.. much like DFI AMD mobos and bandwith tweaked ram.. can you push either of them REALLY hard (rock solid stable)? thats up to you to deside (well and anyone else having to make that choice). Its up in the air really Ive heard both sides of it.
look at it this way.. go check out the price on the Abit AB9-Pro.. it has matrix raid and all the FSB you could need.. then deside :p

Im going with the E6600 Chip and 2gb Corsair Ram 6400 XMS2 and if i go with the ASUS P5B-Deluxe it wont bottleneck the rest of the system.
Sorry their fairly dunb quesitions but when spending near a grand for a pc i want to make sure ill get whats best for the system overall.
Thansk again Green :)

ANY DDR2-800 that will run stock timings (thats garanteed) will be the stock frequency need to run a E6600 at 3.6Ghz.
So I wouldn't be spluging on expensive Elipia chiped ram, even for tweaking.. Try whatever is cheapest at newegg or.. if your wild about tweaking you can talk closer to 300 bucks for a 2gig kit. *the price difference between D9 and cheap DDR2-800 is quickly approching $100 bucks for a 2Gig kit.. I say take advantage of that 9 mulitplier and split from the expensive ram business ;) *

Totally agree Green. The D9 ram is great for either extreme cooling or low multi setups like the E6300 and E6400. If you want to get the expensive ram, drop the E6600 and go for the E6400. You won't save a thing since it will be the same price.

And to be honest.. you'll get more performance out of the cheap ram and the E6600 so your on the right track already :)
