Okay so i have a rosewill and it's crap. I going to replace it. This is what i have.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182017My question is is my power supply making my computer act funny? Sometimes when i turn on my computer i have to hit reset just to get it to boot. Also sometimes when i turn it off it turns off but the power leds stay on. Could my psu cause this?

Could be your motherboard...instablity...bad piece of hardware...could be a lot of things. I bought a Rosewill 550W PSU (single 12+ rail) and was one of the best PSU's I've ever owned. Believed to be a re-branded Fortron PSU as well.

I don't think it is the mobo because my friend who has the same mobo and psu does the same thing as mine. Thats why i think it's my psu because thats the only two parts of same hardware we have. I dont think we both have bad mother boards. Also i didn't oc yet because of this and i'm 100% stable in windows. Also removed different hardware too and didn't make a diffrence.

I bought a rosewill PSU for my work rig. not sure if it's the same model but I do believe it does the same thing, well at leas it doesn't always start up the first time. some times it acts like its starting up but it never boots but if i hit reset it boots like their is nothing wrong.

Those of you with Rosewill PSU's check your fan. They freeze up fairly quickly (less than a year).

So nobody has any idea what is causing this? I'm going to get a new psu any way. So could somebody suggest the best power supply for around 100 bucks in the 500 watt range.

Seasonic S12-500. Silent, deadly. Very solid, I bought (rather, recieved) one for christmas, replaced, you guessed it, a Rosewill PSU. Heheh, go figure.

Weird, I have the stock rosewill 450W psu that came with my case. I thought they made good PSUs. I'm running an overclocked e6400, 2gb ram, and an x1950xt on it no problem. System is stable and cool.

just wait one year. then you'll be taking back that claim. ;)

but yea, i'd bet its the PSU. if it doesn't fix your problem. replace the mobo because the rosewill could've damaged something.

lol you guys are freaking me out! should I really change my psu? the PSU calculator says I need 403W. It's 450W with 2 12V rails at 20A each. Those specs are decent, right? I don't wanna fry my investment :(

I would ASAP.

It doesn't matter how much power you have, its not a quality PSU. Its a heap of crap.

I have seen a couple of Rosewill 400w PS that started needing a "warmup" or "reset" to do a cold boot. On examination, both of them had a swollen capacitor. For a buck more in production cost, they could have used higher quality capacitors. Yep, a measly buck can make the difference in a "decent" PS and a "crap" PS. There's no excuse for that.

Wow. I have 2 of 500w rosewill psu's and they've both been great. One for 2+ years and the other for 1 and a half.

I ran one far worse than yours for 3+ years, and not a single hiccup. Just lucky I guess! :D

Silverstone is well recommended. I am a brokeass (which is why I have a case-supplied rosewill PSU), so I just ordered the Fortron AX450W, hopefully it will be sufficient! Maybe I'll keep the Rosewill to power my optical drive and fans?

My Soyo SY-K7VTA-B motherboard does that, and when it does, usually bitches about the video card not being seated properly.

I wouldn't be in a complete panick but I would get a new PSU as soon as you can. A good PSU is something you can't live without.

I like Fortron/FSP/Sparkle. I've had great luck with them.
