remove the drivers and shut off the computer. uninstall the modem, wait a little while, and then reinstall the modem and turn ur machine back on. Then reinstall all ur drivers. Everything should work:)

it happens when a corrupted download installs and only has part of the files needed.this may be what happened.to check click on help, index type system'look a little ways down and you will see system file checker, click on display.there will be two topics click on run system file check,it will go through your files and show versions and file size of changed files, for instance,
previous file c:windows dll2 156 kb(date) version#
current file c:/windowsdll2 141kb (date) version #
if the file size is smaller than the previous version then click on restore file(especially if the version # is higher)insert windows disc and browse to location of disc,usuallyd:/win98 and it will replace file.if you are not sure click on ignore and it will come up again next time you run it.remember newer versions are almost always more kb than older ones.if files are same size click on verify updated.
there are alot of files that have caused this so it may take awhile, but it can work.i did this yesterday and got my lan modem back online(it took about 30 min)
good luck jeff.
