Worth upgrading from x1600 now?

I'm going through upgrading cycle right now ans trying to decide if it's worth it to spend $200-250 to upgrade x1600 pro 256mb for the moment or to wait till a DX10 card to come out at that price range.
I'm thinking x1900 or 7900 line cards I can find in the price range if I upgrade the video now. Will there be a DX10 cards under $250 within 6months range? If that's likely, I think I would lean toward holding off. Any opinions appreciated.

Do you need the extra FPS? How soon are you going to Vista? If you are going to adapt Vista soon and don't need the extra FPS then I'd wait. If you are going to stick with XP and could use the extra FPS, then You'd be happy with an x1900 or 7900 series card. Either way I'm sure games will be compatible with DX9 and DX10 for quite a while. (Just like games supported DX8 and DX9 for years now)

Thanks for the opinion. I was leaning toward upgrading now. Waiting doesn't seem to work out too often any way.
