Dual channel inquiry (timings).

Hello.

I have 1GB of RAM currently, 2 x 512MB. I also have another 512MB laying unused, 2 x 256MB. The timings on these additional sticks are not identical. Will that prevent the RAM from running in dual-channel mode or does dual-channel only require that the modules be of the same size?

Any help is appreciated.

Yes, dual channel will work fine with sets of 2x512 running different timings. You can also run different sized pairs, such as 2x512 with 2x256 or 2x1024. All 4 sticks will run at the slowest timings & dual channel isn't affected. The #2 rig in my sig is running 2x512 2-2-2-5 OCZ & 2x512 2.5-3-3-7 Corsair Value. All four are running 2.5-3-3-7.
